Why inspect after a storm?
Hail damage is easy to miss from the ground. A bruised shingle can look fine for months, then start losing granules and leaking. By then it can be hard to prove which storm caused it.
An inspection soon after the storm gives you dated photos while the damage is fresh, so you can decide with real information.
What we look for
On shingles we look for soft bruises, cracks and spots where granules have been knocked off. We also check the things hail dents easily, like roof vents, gutters, downspouts and window screens, because they show how hard the storm hit.
Questions about storm and hail inspection
How soon after a storm should I get inspected?
Within a few weeks is best. Many Texas policies give you about a year to file, so check yours, but damage gets harder to document as it weathers.
Do I need to be home?
No. We can inspect while you are out and go through the photos with you by phone or in person. Being home helps if we need to see the attic.
Will you tell me if there is no damage?
Yes. Plenty of roofs we inspect do not need a claim, and we tell you so. Filing a claim that gets denied helps nobody.
